This intensive two-year degree offers a unique opportunity to learn about the fashion industry from within the Condé Nast family.

Looking at Fashion Communication as a whole, the course covers Fashion Media, Fashion Branding, Fashion Marketing, Fashion Retailing, as well as Contextual Studies in Fashion and Fashion Styling, Publishing, Fashion Journalism and Image Making.

You will be able to explore all elements of Fashion Communication with the option to specialise in fields such as Retailing, Journalism, Styling and Publishing. Throughout your degree, you’ll hear from industry speakers on a weekly basis and will work both individually and in teams on styling and magazine projects.

The programme also includes a “Collaborative Industry Project” module, which allows students to work on an industry brief set by a partner company. Previous industry project partners include: Vogue, Louis Vuitton, Land Rover, Estée Lauder, Condé Nast Contract Publishing, Modus PR, Manolo Blahnik and GQ.

Our two-year degree in Fashion Communication is highly intensive and will require you to attend college four days a week. The course is split into eight terms over two years.
The programme’s key aims are to:

  • Introduce you to a broad range of areas within the fashion industry and facilitate your understanding of the key issues surrounding its advancement in the 21st century.
  • Develop your communication skills across a variety of media, with an emphasis on creative outputs and visual messages.
  • Provide opportunities for you to develop key transferable skills, such as research and analysis, the ability to think for yourself and to think creatively, collaboration, organisation and enterprise.
  • Enable you to determine your own personal and professional strengths through critical reflection, with a view to identifying and pursuing a suitable career path within the fashion industry. We run on four 10-week terms, with 12 weeks holiday in total over the academic year.

Our degree programme is intentionally broad in order to allow you to explore a variety of areas within Fashion Communication before deciding on a clear area of focus for the Final Projects over the last two terms of the course. Each year of the course also allows for an elective module enabling you to build up your skills and understanding in a particular area of fashion communication.

During the course, you are also expected to complete an industry placement. While the College provides extensive support in this area, students are expected to find their own placement so that they can develop their job-seeking skills. Careers support is a significant aspect of the College and the programme, and you will continue to be supported after graduation.

Our BA (Hons) Fashion Communication degree programme is validated by the University of Buckingham. The University of Buckingham was named University of the Year for teaching quality by The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide in 2016 and is one of only two private universities in the UK.

The preferred A level requirement for this course is BBB*. Applicants should also have GCSE English and Maths at Grade C (4) or above. The College also accepts equivalent qualifications, such as BTEC and Baccalaureate awards and our own Vogue Fashion Certificate or Foundation Programme. Completion of a Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art & Design or Art, Design & Media) also fulfils the entry requirements.

The preferred International Baccalaureate (IB) score is between 28-32

If English is not your first language, you will need to take an English language test. This course requires an IELTS score of 6.5 and above.

Tuition fees can rise each year in response to market conditions.

Please note that the Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design is not currently eligible for students to receive loans from Student Finance while they are studying here.

The College offers a limited number of means-tested bursaries for this course, which cover the full fee. These are available to lower-income households only. For information on our bursaries, please visit our fees and funding page.

UK/EU students can pay the tuition fee in instalments over the two years of the course.

International students will be asked to pay their first year course fee in full and in advance of arriving at the College.

Additional Course Costs:

There is an optional study trip abroad in year one that is not covered by the course fee. This takes place in the spring and further information is provided at the beginning of the course.

With our unique access to the fashion industry, the College prepares students for employment through live industry projects and work placements, and provides expert career advice to students and graduates.

The technological developments of recent years have driven new opportunities in the Fashion Communication sector, and there is no longer such a distinct separation between fashion media and fashion retail. Professionals now move seamlessly between editorial roles and positions with major fashion brands and retailers, and this shift has greatly widened the scope of available careers.
