Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design – 2019 Graduation

Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design – 2019 Graduation

On Friday, 8th November 2019, Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design hosted the inspiring graduation ceremony for our Bachelor (BA) and Masters’ (MA) degrees at the Soho Hotel, London.

This festive and celebratory event brought graduates together with staff, families, and friends to honour their successes and hard work, providing an opportunity to thank those closest to them for their support, without which this journey would not have been possible.

The ceremony commenced with addresses from Vice-Chancellor Sir Anthony Seldon, Buckingham University, and Albert Read, Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain, both of whom praised the graduates on their determination, passion, and creativity, and offered words of advice and encouragement for the future.

Sir Anthony Seldon reminded students how proud they should be of themselves, as they had already achieved great things during their time at the College.

Albert Read believed Mr. Condé Nast, the eponymous founder of Condé Nast, would have been proud knowing that he was the one who first sowed the seeds of a fashion, media and communication magazine, and that it has been growing, building and improving with every generation since.

The commencement addresses were followed by speeches from the most outstanding students in our BA and MA graduating cohorts.

Xinia Ramirez from BA (Hons) Fashion Communication had urged the graduates to be a light and a positive change in whatever industry they go into; to recognise their privileges and to listen and learn from others. She encouraged them to have conversations and hold people and themselves accountable to create a better world.

Two graduates of MA Fashion Media Practice, Scarlett Baker and Emily Dempsey, recalled and reminisced about their journeys through their MA degrees, sharing some of their most memorable adventures and teaching moments.

The convocation concluded with the awarding of degree certificates, and closing remarks from Sir Anthony Seldon, who brought everyone’s attention to what he believes is most important in all of our lives:

“Always strive to be the best you can, but if your success comes at the cost of your happiness, always choose your happiness.”

Following these words and the end of the graduation ceremony, delighted graduates and their families returned to the campus to continue celebrating in a more informal setting with a few glasses of bubbly to mark the end of one journey and the beginning of another.

Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design staff wishes all of our graduates the very best on the next steps of their journeys.

Remember, we are always here for you; we hope to continue being a community to learn from, and a community to lean on when needed – you are now joining an amazing club of Condé Nast College alumni.
