John Herrera, Online: Fashion Styling, March 2021

With the objective of enhancing my existing skills and knowledge of the industry, as well as to reinvigorate my love of fashion after a tough year in lockdown, I decided to take the Fashion Styling Insights course. The opportunity to learn from – and be mentored by – industry leaders from my favourite fashion publication was my key motivation. As well as this, I was determined become part of a network of like minded individuals who share my passion.

The classes being online made it possible to converse with creatives from all over the world, and we managed to build relationships that have already lived on beyond the short course. The highlight of the experience for me were the invaluable insights from our course leader and guest speakers, particularly from trailblazer Stella McCartney, all of which were incredibly inspirational. Working on creative tasks we were given were challenging and even nerve-racking at times, though each provided us with opportunities to express ourselves and assimilate lessons learned through lectures.

Thanks to the course I was able determine specifically which facet of the Fashion Styling industry I am best positioned to thrive in. I look forward to being a part of the college again in the future. Follow John on Instagram @johnherrera to see his styling journey.
