Fashion Students Take New York

Students visiting Patricia's Fields boutique in New York

Every year our students get to go on an unforgettable trip to the heart of NYC style. The trip is undeniably one of the highlights of the students’ experience at the College.

It offers a truly unique perspective of New York City.  This trip isn’t just about seeing the city, it’s about feeling the pulse of fashion and getting inspired by the very best in the industry.

Visiting Condé Nast HQ

Enhancing our students’ knowledge of the fashion industry, they are taken to experience the Condé Nast New York offices in a day filled with talks from some of the top editors and Condé Nast staffers Stateside, as well as touring the incredible Condé Nast Archives and photo studios in the world famous 1 World Trade building. During the day, students get a feel for what it’s like working in the New York offices with a visit to the incredible (and sizeable) fashion closet, as well as dining at the expansive Condé Nast cafeteria.

This year, alongside visiting Condé Nast’s New York offices, students also enjoyed trips to the Thom Browne flagship store and The Richard Avedon Foundation to name just a few. These exclusive industry-only opportunities allowed students to interact directly with working professionals and learn from the best in the business.

Here are some of the highlights of our trip this year!

In the past, the trip’s itineraries have included visiting brands like Carolina Herrera and excursions such as a private tour with the curator of the Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty exhibition at the Met. The trip is designed to give our Bachelor’s and Master’s students the chance to learn from professionals in the fashion and media industry and make those all-important connections while having fun!

I arrange to see exhibitions or fashion opportunities that are only accessible if you are at our College – a ‘money can’t buy’ experience.

Zoe Souter, Head of Careers

After the trip, there’s always a buzz at the College and a renewed and inspired energy among the students to tackle the new term. Many of the experiences over the New York Trip translate into new connections, professional opportunities, and ideas for assignments, which fuels the students’ excitement of visiting every year.
