Selfridges have dedicated a whole 37,000 sq ft. to their new Body Studio, a space dedicated to lingerie, hosiery and swim, sports, sleep, holiday and loungewear brands. Alongside more than 100 brands (with prices fluctuating from £8 to £2,500) they have added a wellness café and a salon.
Hemsley + Hemsley created by London-based chefs Jasmine and Melissa offers a menu that’s a treat for your figure as well as your taste buds. The Hemsley sisters will be hosting a series of thought provoking talks under the title of ‘Bodytalk’ to debate issues of health, body and mind. A Psycle at Bodywork pop up fitness space also offers high-energy spin classes.
Lingerie ranges from everyday to indulgence with new labels such as ‘For Love and Lemons’ and ‘Fleur du Mal’ boosting the variety and appeal. The newly designed space merges products via colour and sub sector rather than by brand, a new concept for Selfridges. Adidas by Stella McCartney is one of the major sportswear brands featured mixing high fashion with comfort. Others include Monreal London, The Upside, Ultracor and Varley.
With the continued rise of sportswear as fashion the Body Studio is in popular demand. Spring/Summer 16 trends are further blurring the boundaries between daywear and activewear. Balenciaga’s show introduced sportswear through a 90’s revival and sporty pastels were featured by Stella McCartney alongside tennis style sports dresses.Written by Daisy Flood
