Do you want to understand the principles of creative direction for the fashion and media industries, and learn how a creative concept for a branding, marketing, or promotional campaign is developed from initial idea to tangible outcome?

This is an intensive five-day programme, designed to introduce you to the skills required for a successful career in the creative direction of fashion and media.

You will be able to work on your own creative direction project which you will present to others on the last day of the course. In order to do this, you will learn how to use cultural insights to come up with a vision for a creative concept. You will also learn core branding principles so that you can create a distinctive visual identity for your concept. A key to being a good creative director is the ability to meet the needs of a specific target audience and to communicate your ideas to others compellingly and persuasively – all aspects that you will explore as part of the course.

Who is it for?

This short course is suitable for anyone who would like to understand how to implement their creative vision from an initial idea to a final concept.

Students will finish the course with a greater understanding of how to research culture and come up with creative ideas, how to translate abstract ideas into tangible products, and how to create a narrative around a creative direction concept.

By the end of your 5 days, you will walk away with a body of creative work that will demonstrate your vision as a creative director for a product or a service.

Course Content

The programme includes lectures, seminars, creative workshops, and case studies covering the following topics:

  • Ideation and developing a creative direction concept
  • Moodboarding and idea visualisation
  • Developing concepts and products
  • Defining the look and feel of a concept
  • Pitching your ideas
  • Insight into the world of Vogue

Course Award

By the end of the course, you will receive a Condé Nast College of Fashion & Design Certificate of Completion.

I absolutely loved 5 Days of Creative Direction course. I met some of the most amazing, supportive and kind hearted people I have ever met. All of the teachers and industry professionals were wonderful and cared so much for us and our work. I had the best experience and learned so much about myself and the industry. It gave me so much more confidence in myself as a creative that I didn’t have before. I look forward to my upcoming Vogue Summer School: Fashion Business course in July with Condé Nast College. The Campus

Condé Nast College is situated in a historic building at Bedford Square, in Central London.

The area was built between 1775 and 1783 and is one of the best preserved set pieces of Georgian architecture in London.

The square has had many illustrious residents including Lord Eldon, one of Britain’s longest-serving and most celebrated Lord Chancellors, who lived in the largest house in the square for many years. Other famous residents include the second Duke of Devonshire; William Butterfield, an architect; and H H Asquith, a former Prime Minister.

The square takes its name from the main title of the Russell family, the Dukes of Bedford, who owned much of the land in what is now Bloomsbury.

Bedford Square is in the heart of Bloomsbury, an exciting area for academia and the arts; originally made famous by Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Set.

The College is a short walk from the headquarters of Condé Nast, which our students visit as part of their exposure to the professional world.
